Impact of psychological problems in chemical warfare survivors with severe ophthalmologic complication,across sectional study

Abstract Background: Sulfurmustard(SM) has been used as a chemical warfare agent since the early twentieth century. Despite the large number of studies that have investigated SM induced ocular injuries,few of those studies have also focused on the psychological health status of victims. This study has evaluated the most prominent influences on the psychological health status of patients with severe SM induced ocular injuries.

Prognostic Factors in the Relapse of Graves’ Disease Following Treatment with Antithyroid Drugs

Abstract Background: Patients with Graves’ disease exhibit a considerable rate of relapse after treatment with antithyroid drugs and require ablative therapy.

Quality of Life in College Students with and without Social Phobia

Abstract Prior studies demonstrating quality of life impairment in phobia and anxiety disorders have relied upon epidemiological samples or clinical data. Using the same quality of life scale, the Short Form36-item Health Survey(SF-36), in Iranian college students allowed us to study the impact of social phobia(SP) on quality of life among the college students.

Safety and efficacy of sildenafil citrate in treating erectile dysfunction in patients with combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder: a double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled study

PATIENTS AND METHODS In all, 266 combat-exposed war veterans with ED (aged 37–۵۹ years) were recruited. They met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV criteria for PTSD according to the Structured Clinical Interview for Patients, Investigator Version. The patients were also evaluated with the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale, both to establish the diagnosis of PTSD and to measure symptom severity.

The Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNE): translation and validation study of the Iranian version

Background: The Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNE) is a commonly used instrument to measure social anxiety. This study aimed to translate and to test the reliability and validity of the BFNE in Iran.
Methods: The English language version of the BFNE was translated into Persian (Iranian language) and was used in this study. The questionnaire was administered to a consecutive sample of 235 students with (n = 33, clinical group) and without social phobia (n = 202, non-clinical group).

Personality and Individual Differences

The purpose of the present study was to examine the relation between basic value priorities(accordingto the value theory proposed by Schwartz(1992)) and hedonic(affect balance and life satisfaction) and eudaimonic(psychological and social well-being) aspects of well-being in a sample of Iranian university students(n =200).According to the bivariate correlation analysis, achievement and tradition values were significantly correlated with both eudaimonic and hedonic aspects of well-being.
